We are proud to run our own RLSS UK National Pool Lifeguard Qualification courses at Surrey Sports Park. With our help, you can gain a qualification and build skills for life along the way.

Upcoming Dates for 2022

The first day of each course is always on a Saturday and then continues during the following week between Monday-Friday, with the Friday being the assessment date.

  • Saturday 12th February & Monday 14th to Friday 18th February 2022
  • Saturday 2nd April & Monday 4th to Friday 8th April 2022
  • Saturday 2nd July & Monday 4th to Friday 8th July 2022
  • Saturday 9th July & Monday 11th to Friday 15th July 2022
  • Saturday 6th August & Monday 8th to 12th August 2022
  • Saturday 22nd October & Monday 24th to 28th October 2022

NPLQ Criteria

  • Candidates must be aged 16 years or over on the day of assessment
  • The participant must be of a good physical standard and able to jump or dive into the water
  • Must be able to swim at least 100m continuously on front and back
  • Must be able to swim 50m within 60 seconds
  • Must be able to tread water for 30 seconds in deep water

Guest Notice – Face Coverings

From Saturday 19th September, it will be essential for every person in Surrey Sports Park’s communal areas to wear a face covering. This is in-line with the campus-wide policy introduced by the University of Surrey.

The policy does not apply whilst taking part in sport and exercise and activity areas are exempt.

The University considers that the responsibility of wearing a face covering sits with individuals and we expect all our staff, students and public to adhere to this requirement where possible.

Please be mindful and respectful towards members of our community who, due to exceptional circumstances, may be unable to wear a face covering; their reasons may not be visible to others.
