Acupuncture & Dry Needling

What are Acupuncture & Dry Needling?

Acupuncture is a treatment derived from ancient Chinese medicine and has been practiced for thousands of years. Fine needles are inserted into certain sites in the body for a therapeutic effect.

Acupuncture and dry needling are used in western medicine to stimulate sensory nerves under the skin and in the muscles. In response to this, the body releases natural chemicals such as “feel good” endorphins, which can help to relieve pain.

Dry needling is a treatment where fine needles are inserted into certain sites of the body for therapeutic effect, working to reduce pain and increase function. Unlike acupuncture, which is derived from Chinese medicine and based on the principles of Qi flows through the body, dry needling is targeted for specific muscle pains.

Guest Notice – Face Coverings

From Saturday 19th September, it will be essential for every person in Surrey Sports Park’s communal areas to wear a face covering. This is in-line with the campus-wide policy introduced by the University of Surrey.

The policy does not apply whilst taking part in sport and exercise and activity areas are exempt.

The University considers that the responsibility of wearing a face covering sits with individuals and we expect all our staff, students and public to adhere to this requirement where possible.

Please be mindful and respectful towards members of our community who, due to exceptional circumstances, may be unable to wear a face covering; their reasons may not be visible to others.

Thank you,

Surrey Sports Park
