The Pro Shoot Out returned to Surrey Sports Park for 2019 after a year off, with a stellar line up and a sell-out crowd.
Tom Richards – Highest World Ranking #12
Adrian Waller – Highest World Ranking #24
Nathan Lake – Highest World Ranking #42
Vini Rodriguez – Brazilian # 1
This year, 16 of our Surrey Sports Park juniors were able to get up close and personal with the pros and rally on-court which proved to be a real highlight for parents and juniors. The pros were given a run for their money breaking a sweat as our juniors proved their worth on court.
For the main event, our pro’s put on a spectacular show for everyone with the use of Powerplays (blaring music followed by attacking, no-holes barred squash) and Free-Hits. Covering the court like The Flash and rolling the ball into the nick constantly the crowd were gasping and in awe of what was on display. This event lends licence to the players to use all the skills in their arsenal with lots of flair type shots and moves that the crowd may have never seen before. The style is borrowed from T20 cricket and is all action and fast fire to ensure the crowd are constantly engaged and on the edge of their seats.
After the group stages were completed and the mini-challenges performed, the top 2 players were Nathan Lake and Adrian Waller. Top seed Tom Richards couldn’t withstand the onslaught of Nathan Lake in the group stages who was on fire. The final was of an appropriate level of skill, drama and aggression. Adrian took an early lead but Nathan turned on the flair and managed to claw it back and take the title for the 2019 instalment of the event. It was a truly amazing final with everything left on the line resulting in the crowd responding with a rousing round of applause.
We’d like to thank the SSP juniors/parents, the player’s and the crowd for creating an unforgettable night of squash. With your support we hope to make next year bigger and better, see you there in 2020!

From Saturday 19th September, it will be essential for every person in Surrey Sports Park’s communal areas to wear a face covering. This is in-line with the campus-wide policy introduced by the University of Surrey.
The policy does not apply whilst taking part in sport and exercise and activity areas are exempt.
The University considers that the responsibility of wearing a face covering sits with individuals and we expect all our staff, students and public to adhere to this requirement where possible.
Please be mindful and respectful towards members of our community who, due to exceptional circumstances, may be unable to wear a face covering; their reasons may not be visible to others.
