Scorchers announce new signings!

This week, Surrey Scorchers announced the signings of returning star Josh Steel and US Import Demario Beck for the 2018/19 BBL Championship season.

Steel signs for his second season with Scorchers after a very successful rookie season in the BBL.

Mainly playing from the bench, Steel impressed with an average of ten points-per-game and is determined to make even more of an impact this season.

“Personally, I feel like I maybe turned a few heads last year, but this year I want to make sure everybody is listening.” Said the shooting guard.

Beck, 24, is a rookie out of Coastal Carolina University and joins a Scorchers squad which is lining up to be one of the strongest yet.

Speaking of his excitement to be making his way to Surrey, Beck said: “The BBL is a great league and I’ve heard nothing but good things about the Scorchers and the support provided by their fan base.

“There is a real family feel to Scorchers and that is very important to me.”

With more signings on the way, Scorchers are getting ready for the opening night of the BBL Championship season on Saturday 22nd September against Glasgow Rocks (7:00pm tip-off).

Guest Notice – Face Coverings

From Saturday 19th September, it will be essential for every person in Surrey Sports Park’s communal areas to wear a face covering. This is in-line with the campus-wide policy introduced by the University of Surrey.

The policy does not apply whilst taking part in sport and exercise and activity areas are exempt.

The University considers that the responsibility of wearing a face covering sits with individuals and we expect all our staff, students and public to adhere to this requirement where possible.

Please be mindful and respectful towards members of our community who, due to exceptional circumstances, may be unable to wear a face covering; their reasons may not be visible to others.

Thank you,

Surrey Sports Park
