Surrey Sports What we have done differently

What we have done differently

How are we ready and what precautions are in place?

Following the exciting news on the 9th July that sports and gym facilities can prepare to open on the 25th July, we’ve been working hard to follow the government’s guidance.

We’ve introduced the following measures to reassure all members, guests and users of our commitment to returning to activity in a controlled and efficient manner.

Gym Facilites

Gym Facilites

It won’t be long before you are able to get back into your routine, with all the space and equipment you need to enjoy a varied and challenging workout. We'll also be offering socially distanced PT sessions, so you can enjoy the added benefits of training face to face under the guidance of our experts.

• Clear signage to navigate the building, highlighting potential pinch points and reinforcing physical distancing and hand washing
• Additional spray and wipe stations in the gym and studio for members to use
• Equipment repositioned or taken out of use to aid physical distancing.
• Control measures for activity areas including:
- Book in advance only sessions
- Restricted activity availability
- Gym closures after every session for cleaning

Users are expected to come ready to exercise and shower at home

Fitness Classes

Fitness Classes

Our extensive programme of 71 weekly fitness classes is back, and whatever your preferences or personal ability you'll find a range of instructor led classes to choose from, from the traditional to the more diverse and cutting edge.

Whether you’re training for a specific event or aiming to tone up, looking for a weekly yoga class to unwind or want to work up a sweat in a spinning class, we offer a workout to meet the needs of all ages and abilities.

And we’ve been preparing for your return by:
• Implementing book in advance only sessions
• Offering restricted activity availability
• Reducing capacity for classes
• Class timetable to allow cleaning equipment in-between sessions
• Class relocation to larger spaces and equipment in Studio spaces set out to aid physical distancing

Users are expected to come ready to exercise and shower at home

Guest Notice – Face Coverings

From Saturday 19th September, it will be essential for every person in Surrey Sports Park’s communal areas to wear a face covering. This is in-line with the campus-wide policy introduced by the University of Surrey.

The policy does not apply whilst taking part in sport and exercise and activity areas are exempt.

The University considers that the responsibility of wearing a face covering sits with individuals and we expect all our staff, students and public to adhere to this requirement where possible.

Please be mindful and respectful towards members of our community who, due to exceptional circumstances, may be unable to wear a face covering; their reasons may not be visible to others.

Thank you,

Surrey Sports Park
