I am a qualified Personal Trainer and Exercise & Cancer Rehabilitation Specialist. Before I began my current role of Health, Fitness & Wellbeing Manager, I was a freelance Personal Trainer and worked with over 300 patients at SSP, who were suffering from a range of chronic medical conditions.
Although my current role is now behind the scenes, I am always happy and willing to help anyone on the gym floor, to encourage people to use exercise as a tool to improve their quality of life.
I completed my undergraduate and master’s degree in Sport & Exercise Psychology at the University of Chichester, with an emphasis on body image disorders and bodybuilding psychology.
Before working at Surrey Sports Park, I was a personal trainer for 3 years and managed a multi-national corporate gym. In my own time, I compete in natural bikini fitness competitions and have launched a blog to inspire and help girls to overcome body image disorders and teach the importance of lifting weights to transform the body.
My passion lies within strength and conditioning and athletic performance development, specifically helping athletes in team and individual sports to improve their performance.
Having completed a Sports Science degree as well as gaining experience working within a professional football academy I have developed a wide range of knowledge which I enjoy passing on to help others reach their performance and fitness goals.
Coming from a sport orientated background my specialty is focused around specific movement training that can be applied to improve the individual in their particular sport or leisure activity.
From around the age of 16 I have been involved in the Waratahs Rugby Union Elite Development program (EDP) gaining knowledge from industry leaders in Strength and Conditioning. In addition to this I was part of the Australian Under 20’s Sqaud for rugby union that took part in the 2018 World Cup, and through this attained knowledge towards nutrition, flexibility & mobility, strength and Conditioning as well as recovery programs for elite Athletes.
This being said, having a general passion for gym and fitness, I have also worked closely with Students and adults designing programs focused on improving general well-being and fitness levels. So no matter whether you’re a beginner or looking to improve at an elite level I have the knowledge and passion to help.
My training and main speciality is in powerlifting and strength training- analysing and performing the main disciplines involved within the sport and looking at corrective work to aid my own training as well as the development of others.
I also focus on the importance of flexibility and mobility within my training and with clients during programmes. Whether you’re taking your first steps into strength training or looking to progress your current routine I have the knowledge and passion to help.
I have played sport from a very young age, rugby being my speciality sport, where I currently play for Esher RFC in the senior squad competing around the country most weeks. From my passion for rugby and sport I developed an interest in strength and conditioning.
Following on from completing my degree in Sport Science and Coaching, I have worked with Olympic and international level short distance sprint athletes; implementing strength and power sessions and assisting in track based sessions. To where I am now working with the Ealing Trailfinders rugby team competing in the Greene King IPA Championship as a strength and conditioning coach.
I completed my Master’s in Strength and Conditioning at the University Gloucestershire in 2017, having previously finished my Bachelor’s in Sport Coaching. Since leaving University I have undertaken two Internships’ within professional sporting environments which have provided me with the chance to practically apply my theoretical knowledge.
More recently I been working with clients from a variety of backgrounds to achieve their person health and wellbeing goal, whether that be performance based or just making day to day life easier.
In Addition to working at SSP I am also Head of Strength and Conditioning at Dorking RFC (National 3). Furthermore, I have trained a number of individual athletes across a wide range of different sporting disciplines.
I am an Exercise Referral Specialist who has worked with hundreds of patients, each with their own unique story and personal motivation for getting fitter and improving their quality of life.
Whether in an individual or group environment, I believe the support of a thorough but enjoyable programme can transform the lives of people of any fitness level.
