Sport at the University of Surrey
Sport is a vital part of any student experience and there is no better time to get involved at the University of Surrey. If you’re into your sport, the newly opened Surrey Sports Park will soon be a place you’ll grow to love.
Based on Manor Park campus, the University's new multi-million pound sports facility oozes world class. The facilities are being used this summer by 14 Olympic and 4 Paralympic nations in preparation for London 2012, and we regularly host a number of professional sports clubs including Harlequins Rugby Union, Surrey Storm Netball or Guildford Heat Basketball.
With a 50 metre swimming pool, a premier health and fitness centre, 3 sports arenas, 4 dance and exercise studios, a climbing centre, 6 squash courts, 8 floodlit tennis courts, grass and artificial pitches, a Starbucks and the Bench bar, there really is something for everyone.
There are also over 35 student sports clubs to join including football, hockey, waterpolo and archery to name just a few on the ever expanding list. These clubs will offer you the opportunity to enjoy your sport and the chance to compete in the British Universities and Colleges (BUCS) competition in which Surrey is now a top 50 university, and climbing the rankings all the time.
You also don't have to join a club to play competitively- we have a range of social clubs, sessions and fixures for those who just want to keep fit and have fun!
Team Surrey also offers opportunities for a variety of volunteering projects particularly in coaching and community involvement which are enjoyable and can add something extra to your university experience.
