School Visits and Workshops

We are proud of the facility and want to offer schools and colleges the opportunity to access the sports science applications of the Institute. 

The sessions we offer aim to give students an engaging and practical introduction to both laboratory and field based testing, and provide them with an enhanced understanding of the study of sports science and the career opportunities it offers.

What you need to know

Duration: 2-2.5 hours depending on group size
Number of students: 20 maximum
Cost: £200 for up to 15 students, for additional students, £15 per head

Session Options

Sub-maximal Testing

  • Cardiopulmonary Exercise Test (VO2max)

Maximal Testing

  • 30m Sprint Test
  • Running-based Anaerobic Sprint Test (RAST)

Other Options (Time Permitting)

  • Spiometry
  • Strength Tests
  • Body Composition
  • Blood Test Demonstration
  • Functional Movement Tests

Session Structure

Times: Morning sessions between 10.00am -12.30pm

Sessions can be structured to suit the requirements and level of the class.

If more than 12 students are attending, the group will be split, alternating between the physiology and performance sessions.

All session will be accompanied by SHPI Worksheets to enable students to record data and complete tasks.

Raw Test data from testing can also be made available to Teachers post event for their own use.
