Clean Sweep for Unbeaten Team Surrey Netball

30 October 2012

All four Team Surrey Netball squads picked up wins in the 2nd round of BUCS fixtures last week, meaning that they all remain unbeaten in the 2012/13 season.

Kingston 1st, Reading 2nd, St George’s 3rd and Roehampton 4th all suffered at the hands of Surrey’s netballers, who added 4 wins to the day’s tally of 16 victories, 12 loses and 2 draws.
Badminton also enjoyed a successful afternoon with the men’s sides still without a loss thanks to wins over Hertfordshire 2nd and Roehampton 1st on the road. Women’s 1st drew 4-4 with Chichester 1st, giving them their 2nd draw of the season.

A particular highlighted fixture at Surrey Sports Park was the South Eastern 5A men’s football game between Surrey 2nd and Surrey 3rd. Dubbed ‘El Classico’ by many, it proved to be an exciting goal-fest as the 2nds came out 6-3 winners, with their goalkeeper managing to get himself on the score sheet from the edge of his penalty area!

As the first round of many BUCS Cups come into play tomorrow, it is a quiet day for Team Surrey with many clubs facing byes to progress into 2nd rounds of their respective competitions. But there are still a total of 12 fixtures taking place at Surrey Sports Park, including Netball 1st and 2nd looking to maintain their unbeaten starts to the season and advance in their cups, while men’s Rugby 1st and 2nd both take on Portsmouth (1st and 4th) in league matches.
