Road Improvements Update

09 October 2012

surreysportspark

Please be aware, due to ongoing planned road improvements on Egerton Road by local authorities there are delays to journeys coming in and out of Surrey Sports Park and surrounding areas.

These delays peaked last night (Monday) however traffic was flowing better this morning (Tuesday 9 October).

To complete the final stage of the road improvement project contractors are due to remove the current roundabout over the next few weeks. Access to Surrey Sports Park will be via the normal route up Richard Meyjes Road. However the outbound route will be closed.

When exiting the Park a one-way-system will be put into operation - all vehicles exiting Surrey Sports Park will need to continue via Francis Crick Drive and Occam Road/Gill Avenue (around the back of the Manor Park residences and down past the Royal Surrey County Hospital).

Local authorities are currently pursuing further enhancements to the planned diversion with a view to reducing delay times even further.

Please take this into consideration and plan ahead of your journey to minimise disruption. This is the final stage of the planned road improvements and therefore any delays in the area are temporary and changeable.

With the roundabout coming out, a crossroads with traffic lights is being installed in its place, while there will also be better facilities for cyclists and pedestrians with new footpaths and toucan crossings.

The £4.5million scheme is on schedule and will lead to better traffic flow in the area.

Keep checking the Surrey Sports Park facebook page here or follow @surreysportpark on twitter for regular updates advising on traffic levels during peak journey times.
