New Intern Profiles

Harri Cizmic

Harri originates from Maidstone, Kent and wants to take a particular focus on youth S&C implementation. His plans for the future include developing coaching philosophy around fundamental movement development and injury prevention, with a view to work as an S&C coach in an academy or school setting.

Simon James

Coming to Guildford from his hometown of Basingstoke Simon is interested in many areas of his internship from player/team work to testing and monitoring. He is keen to use his time at SSP to gain more experience working with top athletes individually as well as teams in different sports, alongside completing his UKSCA accreditation. Following his internship Simon is keen to work with the English Institute of Sport, the National Tennis Centre or with a professional sports team.

Simon Brearley

Simon has come from the furthest away to undertake his internship in the south, originating from Sheffield. He will be co-leading the Surrey Storm Netball S&C programme, contributing to research around sprint biomechanics/quantifying strength training volume-load and intensity, while helping to support the University’s sports scholarship athletes. Simon would ideally like to pursue a full time S&C career in a HE sports performance environment while exploring opportunities for lecturing in strength and conditioning, sport science or sports coaching.

Alice Tourell

Alice is familiar to many at Surrey Sports Park, having also worked as a personal trainer in our Health & Fitness Centre. During her internship she will work on effective programme planning and S&C coaching for our rowing clubs. Her ultimate goal is to work for the English Institute of Sport or British Swimming in an elite coaching program.

Christina Borg

Christina originates from London and will be looking at how different protocols/exercises develop speed and power for individual athletes. Following her internship she would like to continue onto a PHD in sprint biomechanics.

Tom Batchelor

Tom is another familiar face at SSP having also worked as a personal trainer. He will be working alongside Surrey Heat Basketball while continuing his work towards an MSc.

Nick Goss

Surrey local Nick has a strong interest in youth athlete development, but is keen to gain experience in a wide variety of fields. He would like to work towards a career linked to his interests and continue after his internship.
