IOC Vice President Visits Surrey Sports Park

20 July 2012

Vice President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Ser Miang Ng was greeted at Surrey Sports Park yesterday by the Singapore Olympic Team for a tour the facilities being used by a number of Olympic and Paralympic athletes ahead of London 2012.

Ng is also a former chairman of the Singapore Sports Council and Vice-President of the International Sailing Federation. He was elected onto the IOC Executive Board in 2005 after being a part of the Evaluation Commission that selected London as the 2012 Olympic Games host.

During his visit Ng met various members of the Singapore Olympic Team, who are currently training at Surrey Sports Park for the table tennis, badminton and swimming events, along with Paul Blanchard, CEO and three London 2012 volunteers who were on hand to ensure a smooth and successful visit.

Paul Blanchard, CEO of Surrey Sports Park, said: “Surrey Sports Park is honoured to welcome such an important member of not only the IOC but also the committee that awarded London the Olympic Games back in 2005. Couple this with the range of teams and athletes that we are hosting and we have a fantastic selection of Olympic and Paralympic representatives visiting and training with us.”

Ng left Surrey Sports Park impressed with the facilities and happy with how all of the teams are preparing for the Olympic and Paralympic Games’.
