Sweden join further Singapore Arrivals at Surrey Sports Park

17 July 2012

Further athletes from Singapore have arrived for pre-London 2012 training camps, along with Surrey Sports Park’s first Paralympic athletes from Sweden.

Our arena has been completely transformed this week to accommodate table tennis and badminton athletes from Singapore including Feng Tianwei, Wang Yuegu and Li Jiawei, who were all present in the nation’s Beijing 2008 silver medal winning table tennis team.

A team of 5 swimmers from Sweden will train at Surrey Sports Park ahead of the Paralympics and have become the first Paralympians to arrive this summer. Their squad includes experienced swimmer Anders Olsson, who secured two gold medals in the 2008 Olympic Games, four times world record holder Jennie Ekström and recent IPC (International Paralympic Committee) record breaker Maja Reichard. The team will compete in a total of 10 swimming events between them.

Surrey Sports Park are expecting a further three nations to arrive this week, with more due to visit in the coming weeks.
