Nigeria Qualify for London 2012 Basketball Event

Nigeria pulled off a surprise qualification for the basketball event at the Olympic Games at the weekend, confirming their presence at a training camp at Surrey Sports Park.
Three places were up for grabs at the qualifying tournament in Venezuela, with Russia and Lithuania joining Nigeria as qualifiers.
The African nation defeated the Dominican Republic in the 3rd place play off to secure a place after recording excellent victories against Lithuania and Greece.
Nigeria will now take part in a pre-Games training camp at Surrey Sports Park later this month in preparation for the basketball event at London 2012, featuring teams from the United States, Argentina, Spain, France, Tunisia, Brazil, Australia and China alongside the nations going through from the qualifying tournament.
