Mongolian athletes arrive at Surrey Sports Park
06 July 2012
Mongolian athletes have become the latest Olympians to arrive at Surrey Sports Park ahead of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Archery and marathon athletes arrived this week and have already settled into their on-site training camp which will see them eating and staying on site.
Most recognisable of the four Mongolian athletes to train at SSP is Ser-Od ‘Ziggy’ Bat-Ochir, for whom it will be his third Olympic games competing in the marathon event.
‘Ziggy’ will be the Mongolian 'flag-bearer' at the opening ceremony.
He is joined by fellow marathon runner Luvsanlkhündegiin Otgonbayar who will run in the women’s event and archers Jantsangiin Gantögs and Bishindeegiin Urantungalag in the men’s and women’s individual events respectively.
Overall Mongolia will be represented by 29 athletes in 7 different sports.
You will be able to watch ‘Ziggy’ compete in the Marathon on Sunday 12 August.
