SHPI staff take on John O-Groates to Lands’ end cycle
05 July 2012

Good Luck to Surrey Sport’s Park’s own Joe Wainwright who is taking on the John O’Groates to Land’s end cycle challenge this weekend.
Joe from the Surrey Human Performance Institute and his team have been training at Surrey Sports Park and testing at SHPI to prepare for their 8 day ride.
SHPI provides a range of individually personalised fitness and medical assessments for the public and athlete’s to learn about their health status, manage weight-loss, and optimise fitness and performance. Joe and his team have been using the facilities to identify specific training heart rate and power zones to optimise their performance.
As nutrition is also vitally important, SHPI has developed a nutrition plan with the team to ensure they are taking in the correct sort of foods and drinks to aid fuelling. They have also utilised the Optimum Health & Fitness services to develop overnight recovery strategies.
As well as training outside locally, an integral part of their training has taken place in the Health and Fitness Centre, using weight sessions to improve upon muscular strength and endurance with a variety of conditioning exercises.
Take a look at SHPI and the facilities available.
They will set off this weekend, raising money for the Patrick Evans Foundation and tweeting their progress as they cover over 100 miles per day! @jwainheads
