27 June 2012

University of Surrey graduate and Surrey Sports Park ambassador Margaret Adeoye will be representing Team GB in this summer’s London 2012 Olympic Games following a successful weekend in the Aviva 2012 Athletics Trials in Birmingham.
The National Indoor Champion recorded a personal best time in the women’s 200m heats on Sunday afternoon (23.09secs) and followed it up with an impressive 23.11secs effort in the final to take first place and a spot in Team GB’s London 2012 Athletics squad.
Mark Garfoot, Performance Sport Manager at Surrey Sports Park, said: “We are immensely proud of Margaret and her achievements in reaching London 2012. She is a very talented athlete and will be an asset to Team GB and the Olympics as a whole."
Margaret runs for Enfield and Haringey Athletic Club and is trained by Olympic gold medallist Linford Christie. She will be the second University of Surrey graduate to represent Team GB in an Olympic Games following trampolinist Kirsten Lawton at Athens 2004.
