BT Art of Sport to leave Surrey Sports Park
21 June 2012

Just under a month after it arrived in Guildford, the BT Art of Sport collection is to leave Surrey Sports Park very shortly.
The exhibition features sculpture, painting and photography from 12 leading UK artists that have been specially commissioned by the London 2012 premier partner BT as part of the forthcoming Cultural Olympiad programme. The participating artists represent some of the UK’s most exciting artistic talent.
Working with Team GB’s foremost Olympic and Paralympic athletes, the initiative will produce a body of work that will serve to re-tell the story of the London 2012 Olympics, capturing the dedication and commitment of these elite athletes and conveying the drama and passion of these historic sporting events.
Surrey Sports Park’s many daily visitors have taken time to appreciate the masterpieces on display, with some members of the community coming in to view the art specifically.
Jeremy Hunt MP visited the Sports Park on Saturday 9th June to officially launch the exhibition, and left full of praise for the facility and it’s work with young people and the community.
The Lewis Elton Gallery on the University of Surrey’s Stag Hill campus has also hosted some of the collection.
Several pieces have been sold and will be taken to homes and galleries around the UK.
