GB Men's Futures Basketball set to take on Lithuania
28 May 2012

Surrey Sports Park will host the Standard Life GB Men’s Futures basketball squad in a match versus Lithuania on Saturday 9 June, 7pm tip-off.
Tickets are now available to buy for the match (Adults £8 and Juniors £6) online here or by calling 01483 689111.
The match is part of a week-long training camp for the GB Futures team at the park and sees a young squad take on European basketball powerhouses, Lithuania.
There are some familiar senior squad faces in the 2012 Futures team, including British Basketball's 2011 'Emerging Athlete of the Year', Devon Van Oostrum who will be looking to earn his senior team place once again.
A number of players from last year's EuroBasket team have also been selected and will be vying for a position in the senior men's team ahead of this summer’s London 2012 Olympic Games.
Standard Life GB senior men's assistant coach, Paul Mokeski will be the head coach when the squad comes together from 4-10 June 2012.
Coach, Paul Mokeski commented: "I am excited and honoured to be the head coach of the GB Futures team. This will be my third year with the GB program and the experience has been very rewarding.
"The Futures programme is very important in the development of young players and gets them ready for the transition into the senior squads. This year the Futures program is the beginning of our preparation for the Olympics in London this summer."
British Basketball's Head of Performance, Warwick Cann added: "In this year's Futures we can see the potential for our senior team as we head towards Rio in 2016. Someone from this squad could make the Olympic team and that will be exciting to see who it is."
