GB Basketball coach Local Youth Talents
24 May 2012

Local talented basketball players received an Olympic treat recently at Surrey Sports Park as they took part in a coaching session provided by Team GB coaches and players.
Tom Maher, Head Coach of GB Women’s Basketball, lead the session with the help of the London 2012 medal hopefuls in which children from the Surrey U13, U15 and U17 were given tips and advice to take into their own games
Feedback from the session was excellent. One parent said: “Just wanted to say what a tremendous time the girls had on Saturday training with the GB coach. It’s a memory that will last forever. Thank you to everyone who arranged it.” The players also enjoyed the experience with one stating: “He [GB Coach] seemed quite scary to start with, but I really enjoyed the sessions and he wasn’t so scary after all!”
GB Basketball will continue to train at Surrey Sports Park ahead of the London 2012 Olympic Games throughout June and July. Meanwhile, the Surrey youth squads will take part in an inter-county tournament between Surrey, Sussex and Kent in June.
