Surrey Sports Park is celebrating 100 days until the Paralympics by forming agreements with the Swedish and Mauritian Paralympic Committees for pre-London 2012 training camps.

Paralympic athletes from swimming, table tennis and various athletics disciplines from both nations will train at the University of Surrey-owned venue throughout the summer in preparation for the Paralympics in late August.

These agreements take the total of Paralympic nations using Surrey Sports Park to 5 alongside athletes from Argentina, Nigeria and Great Britain. A further 14 Olympic teams will use the facilities in the lead up to London 2012 during July.

Paul Blanchard, Chief Executive of Surrey Sports Park, said: “to have another two Paralympic nations training here in the summer is fantastic. We really want to show the world that Surrey Sports Park is a venue for athletes of all abilities and hosting athletes from 5 Paralympic teams is a testament to how the facilities we have here are suitable and open to all.

With only 100 days to go we are getting closer to what is going to be a phenomenal summer of sport. We will be welcoming Olympic and Paralympic athletes at various points over the coming weeks and we are excited for the Surrey community to be able to come here and train alongside some of the world’s most talented sports people.”

Further details regarding the nations using Surrey Sports Park for pre-Games training camps are available on the London 2012 section of the website.
