08 May 2012

Team Surrey had four representatives at the BUCS Outdoor Championships over the weekend, which took place at the Olympic Stadium in Stratford.
As the official athletics test event and part of the London Prepares series, student athletes from up and down the country were given the unique chance to perform in the Olympic Stadium before London 2012 kicks off this summer.
With students from different sporting background and with various levels of ability, there was plenty on show for spectators including a number of BUCS records and individual personal bests.
Team Surrey took four representatives to the Championships, each of whom can be proud of their achievements and will remember the experience for a long time.
On Friday afternoon HPASS student Hayley Crosswell took to the javelin heats and threw a distance of 26.78m, coming 9th out of 12. Later on in the afternoon 100m sprinter Nathan Steele took 7th place in his heat with a time of 11.85.
Crosswell was back in action on Saturday but in the pole vault, coming joint 22nd with 2.10m. Sports Exec chair Charlie Eastaugh featured in the men’s 800m heats, taking 5th place with a time of 2:00.10.
