Team Surrey: Varsity 2012 Champions!

Team Surrey have been crowned Varsity 2012 champions after defeating the Kingston Cougars (Kingston University) at Surrey Sports Park.

Perfect weather in Guildford brought over 1000 students from Surrey and Kingston Universities to the Sports Park for an afternoon of exciting sport and competition, with Team Surrey looking to retain their title from Varsity 2011.

With Rowing and Taekwondo competing at the weekend and bringing two draws to the score board, it was still an even playing field at the start of the day on Wednesday. But Team Surrey quickly got a string of wins under their belts and built a comfortable lead.

The big finale kicked off with a cheerleading head-to-head followed by the traditional captain’s Tug of War. Despite picking up wins in both, it was too little too late for Kingston as Team Surrey eventually finished 55-28 winners!

Surrey Sports Park would like to congratulate Team Surrey on an emphatic victory!
