Two England wins over Welsh Rivals
28 February 2012
Two of the three England teams to train at Surrey Sports Park managed emphatic victories over Wales in the RBS 6 Nations at the weekend, with just the Senior Men’s side falling to a loss.
A late Scott Williams try sealed the triple crown for Wales on Saturday afternoon as the England Men’s senior team failed to make it three wins out of three at Twickenham. Wales now sit comfortably at the top of the RBS 6 Nations table ahead of England, whose 80th minute try attempt was denied by the video referee leaving Wales with the points sealed.
Three debutants scored tries for the England Men’s U20’s side as they ran out 40-9 winners at The Stoop in Friday evening. Wales started the fixture strong but the power of a fresh England team was too much as they succumbed to an eventual heavy defeat. Following the postponement of their second game against Italy, England have won 2 out of 2 and sit 2nd in the table behind Ireland.
The story was similar for the Women’s side who prevented Wales from notching any points on their tally compared to 33 of their own. This result puts England top of their group on points difference with France, England’s next opponents in 2nd.
