Trampoline Pair Somersault into National Finals

13 February 2012

Two members of Team Surrey’s Trampoline Club are heading into nationals BUCS finals after a second successive weekend of excellent results.

Just a week after picking up two medals in the UWE competition, they were on the road to success again at the weekend in the BUCS Regionals. In the BUCS5 category, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place all went to Surrey, while the men recorded a 3rd place in the BUCS4 field. Following this, Hannah Birtwistle-Gordon and Andy Sluman will now go on to represent Team Surrey on the national stage, joining Zoe Pounce and Beccy Turner who have auto-qualified.

Meanwhile, there was plenty of midweek BUCS action including some strong results for various Team Surrey clubs. Women’s 1st Fencing maintained their 100% record at home to Essex 1st with a 125-100 win, while an equally exciting game of basketball took place in the adjacent arena between our Men’s 1st team and Westminster 1st. Team Surrey found themselves staring at defeat until the final quarter when the game was turned on it’s head and the home side away with a 69-64 win in front of a decent crowd. Women’s Badminton 1st also picked up a strong win, defeating Chichester 1st 0-8 away from home.

Both netball and hockey finished the day with double wins, including clean sheets for Men’s & Women’s Hockey 1st against Brunel 2nd (3-0) and Chichester 2nd (5-0) respectively. Netball 1st and 2nd also ran out confident winners against Brunel 3rd (50-40) and Portsmouth 6th (29-44).

Don't forget that any information posted on the Team Surrey Facebook page will be used in the weekly report so make sure you keep us informed of any news and results!
