Jeremy Hunt continues praise for Surrey
18 January 2012

Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt describes London 2012 as being an “absolutely extraordinary time for Surrey.”
Speaking to the Surrey Advertiser Jeremy, whose constituency is South West Surrey, praises the county for it’s commitment to the London 2012 Olympics and enforces it’s benefits to the community.
“Surrey has been blazing a trail in recognising that hosting the Olympics in London right on our doorstep is going to be an amazing moment and opportunity. We have 16 teams training in Surrey which is going to be very exciting. We have teams from Antigua and Barbuda in Guildford, along with Nigeria, USA and Team GB.
"Of course the most exciting thing of all is that we will be having an Olympic event with the road race happening on the first Saturday and Sunday of the Olympics.”
These comments follow past recognition for the county from the Culture Secretary last year.
Surrey Sports Park will play host to a number of Olympic teams in the run up to London 2012, including those from Barbados, Nigeria, Singapore, Spain and Croatia. February will also see the start of our ‘Year of Sport’, encouraging people of all ages and backgrounds to get involved in sport.
