New Year, New Player, New Hope for Guildford Heat
04 January 2012

6’ 9 American forward, Frank Holmes joins Guildford Heat for 2012, replacing Mike Copeland who is out for the season following a serious knee injury.
Holmes first attracted coach Creon’s attention in the 2009-2010 season when he played for Milton Keynes Lions, leading the team in rebounds (6.7 rebounds per game). He was also fourth in scoring (13.1 points per game).
His BBL experience also includes a short spell at Leicester Riders, where he joined the team for the last four games of the 2010-2011 season, averaging 12.5 points per game and 7.3 rebounds per game. He also has international experience, playing in the USA and Czech Republic.
Guildford Heat’s head coach, Creon Raftopoulos commented, “Following Mike Copeland’s injury, a number of agents contacted me as they were aware we were likely to have a slot for an overseas player. Copeland made a huge impact in a short space of time and I wanted to replace him with a player with a strong track record in the BBL.
“I am delighted that we have worked a deal to bring Frank Holmes in for the remainder of the season. We put in a winning performance at the weekend and I am confident that Frank can hit the ground running and help 2012 to be a more successful year for Guildford Heat.”
Frank Holmes added, “I am really excited about getting back on the court and happy to be back in this great league. I am really thankful to Guildford Heat for the opportunity to be part of the club and can’t wait to play in front of Heat fans. Let’s Go Heat!”
Guildford Heat’s next home game is on Sunday 29 January at 3pm against Milton Keynes. For ticket details of further information visit the Guildford Heat website.
