Medal Haul for Team Surrey

Team Surrey’s Fencing Squad enjoyed a medal haul last weekend at the County Novices and Intermediate events in all three weapon disciplines, including 4 golds!
Team Surrey bagged themselves a total of 16 medals (4 gold, 4 silver and 8 bronze) in the competition, resulting in the season’s first silverware for Surrey. Men’s and Women’s Novice Foil and Epee and Intermediate Foil and Sabre all enjoyed success in their competitions.
The Trampoling Club were also involved in a weekend competition, travelling to Bristol and taking back some excellent results, including 1st place for Advanced sycnhro pair Hannah Birtwistle-Gordon and Zoe Pounce and 2nd for Beccy Turner in the Elite Ladies.
BUCS Wednesday brought some top performances as usual, with a mixture of league and cup fixtures taking place. Men’s Rugby Union 1st took on Sussex 2nd and landed themselves a place in the last 16 of the cup after a 37-11 win, their 7th straight win this season. The story is similar for Women’s Hockey 1st, also against Sussex 2nd in the cup, who notched their 6th win in 6 with a 2-0 victory.
Women’s Netball 1st finised off Imperial Medics 46-45 in a tight game to make it 6 wins in 6. Devan Wing’s shooting performance proved vital for Team Surrey, while Millie Davies earned herself Player of the Match.
Men’s Badminton 2nd have made it to the last 16 of their cup competition, beating Royal Free (RUMS) 6-2 at Surrey Sports Park.
Team Surrey’s Ulitmate Frisbee squad have had a week of top performances starting with a 14th place finish in the BUCS National League Division 2 at the weekend. This was topped off with a 15-2 win over UCL 2nd to put Team Surrey 4th in the London Ultimate League, just one win off the top.
This week’s results put Team Surrey in 51st place in the BUCS table, just half a point off southern rivals Sussex.
