Clerk of Works wins quality award

Peter Walpole, the University's Clerk of Works, has received a 'Building on Quality Award' for his involvement in the construction of Surrey Sports Park.

Peter was presented with the Institute of Clerks and Works and Construction Inspectorate (ICWCI) Award at Wimbledon's All England Law Tennis Club on Thursday 17 November.

14 building projects from the UK and Ireland were short-listed for the award. A team of senior members of the ICWCI visited and judged each project. Meredith Whilden, the chairman of the judges said: "Peter was fully involved throughout the duration of the project due to the great variety of end user requirements. This project could well have faltered without the knowledge and dedication afforded to it by Peter."
