Get Hyped for Hip-Hop this Autumn

17 October 2011

In the first of our dance course previews, we take a look at our popular Hip-Hop course in conjunction with The Urban Dance School (U.D.S).

Matt Walker and Jean Paul Pillay founded U.D.S in August 2004 with the aim of teaching and promoting all types of Urban Dance including Street Dance, Break Dance, Poppin’ and Lockin’ as well as exploring other dance styles such as Contemporary, Jazz, Ballet, Tap, Physical theatre and Animal Mime.

They operate all over England but have over 20 weekly classes running across Spelthorne, Surrey and Richmond throughout the week delivered by 6 teaching staff. All U.D.S teachers are insured, CRB checked and have the correct teaching licensing. U.D.S are all current industry professionals with credits that include working with artists such as JLS, Alexandra Burke, Cheryl Cole, Gary Go, Whitney Houston, Chris Brown and Mariah Carey with tour and show credits including Into The hoods, Thriller Live, Riverdance, Hairspray and Mary Poppins, meaning that our students get the best, safest and most enjoyable dance experience.

All U.D.S. students get many opportunities to perform throughout the year at various self-produced shows and other events, festivals and battles all over the country. Performing at these events is open to all students regardless of age and ability as they believe in giving everyone the opportunity to perform if they want to. For those who wish to embark on a possible career in dance U.D.S regularly notify the students of performance opportunities and auditions as well as advising them on their range of options.

The Urban Dance School and its staff are committed to helping their students develop and broaden their range of dance by sharing their skills, working and learning alongside people with complementary skills and supported by the professional artists at its core.

The Autumn Hip-Hop class for beginners and improvers has just got underway, but there is still space available for students to join. Classes take place on a Thursday evening at the Guildford School of Acting (GSA) on the University of Surrey campus. Full details can be found on the Surrey Sports Park website.
