Dominican Athletes land in Surrey
03 October 2011

Two athletes from Dominica were training at Surrey Sports Park last week in preparation for the Pan American Games in later this month.
National high jump champion Brendan Williams and 400m runner Erison Hurtault visited the Surrey Human Performance Institute based at Surrey Sports Park for Biomechanical Evaluation.
Commenting on their visit sprinter Hurtault was happy with the style of preparation: “The Performance Institute is brilliant. It was a great opportunity to for us to evaluate our training and identify any problems before the [Pan American] Games.”
The pair were also joined by University of Surrey graduate Felix Wilson. Felix attended Surrey between 1976 and 1982, studying Clinical Biochemistry at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels and is taking on the role as Chef de Mission for Dominica during London 2012. Returning to Surrey 29 years after graduating was an exciting experience for Felix: “It was a great opportunity for me to interact with some top athletes. Coming back to Surrey has allowed me to build some pride in my alma mater too.”
Williams and Hurtault leave for the Pan American Games in Mexico later this month, and will return to Surrey Sports Park in March for preparations before the London 2012 Olympic Games.
