New American Signing for Guildford Heat
05 September 2011

American point guard, Brandon Shingles, will join the Heat for the 2011/2012 season.
The 24 year old joins from Aschersleben Tigers in Germany, where he had a strong season in his first year as a professional player and was described by the coach as "his most valuable player of the season, with the potential to go to the NBA one day."
Prior to playing for Aschersleben Tigers, Brandon was team captain at Morehead State University. His strong leadership and tremendous point guard skills were key factors in leading his team to the Ohio Valley Conference Championship game and NCAA tournament during the 2008/2009 season.
Creon Raftopoulos commented, "Brandon is a pass first point guard, who gets all his team mates involved but is also capable of scoring when needed. He is a popular player with strong European experience and I am sure he will be an asset to the team.
"Brandon had an option to return to play for Aschersleben Tigers this season but, having watched footage of the Heat, was keen to join us and be part of the Heat programme. I am sure he will be a big hit with the fans."
Brandon Shingles said, "Coming into my second year as a professional basketball player, I am excited and ready to play for Guildford Heat. I am dedicated to achieving success and will commit my skills, hard work and passion to my team. I look forward to creating bonds with my teammates, coaches, the management and fans and hope to create a positive foundation so that the entire team can flourish in the forthcoming season."
Guildford Heat's first BBL game of the season is a BBL Trophy game against Plymouth Raiders on Sunday 2 October at 3pm at Surrey Sports Park. For ticket details or further information, visit http://www.guildfordheat.com.
