Egypt drive to top of pyramid in Germany

England Squash settle for second place to rivals Egypt in World Team Championships.
The top seeds failed to defeat Egypt in the final of the tournament after a strong journey into the last two. Only Peter Barker could manage a win on the day as James Willstrop and Nick Matthew, who was beaten in a final by Ramy Ashour for the second time this month.
Despite defeating Australia in the semi-finals and only dropping one match in the run up to the meeting with the Egyptians, the team seeded second proved too strong for England.
Following the loss Matthew (@nickmatthew) and Selby (@darylselby) were appreciative of the support and the opposition. Talking on Twitter Matthew said: “Thanks everyone for your support this week, twitter has proved a great way of you all getting that across to us. We were beaten by a better. Team on the day but can be proud of our efforts.” Selby echoed this saying: “we all really appreciated the support this week. This season I'm sure us English will prove we are still a powerhouse.”
The England boys will enjoy a well earned break in September, with their next major tournament being the World Squash Open in Rotterdam in late October.
England Squash prepared for their World Team Championship appearance at Surrey Sports Park last month.
