Storm Stars in England Action

23 August 2011

Surrey Storm players Fran Desmond (senior squad) and Amanda Davis (NTL squad) are currently representing England U19’s on a tour of Jamaica.

England began their tour well with a 48-29 win in the opening match against St Hughs. Despite starting the game as a replacement Davis, making her U19’s debut, maintained an excellent shooting record that she followed through into the tour’s second match.

Desmond and Davis both featured in England’s starting 7 for their second game of the tour against Denbeigh High School, with the visitors coming away with a 52-32 win. Davis in particular impressed her coaches, shooting with 100% accuracy in the opening quarter of the game.

Tougher opposition in their first Test Match versus Jamaica proved too much for the young England side as they fell to a 44-29 defeat, one which they will be looking to bounce back from in their second Test Match against the Caribbean team.

Their progress can be followed on the Netball England website here.

For any budding young netballers that want to follow in the footsteps of Amanda Davis Surrey Storm are holding their Netball Talent League (NTL) trials in September. Surrey Storm train and play at Surrey Sports Park in Guildford, part of the University of Surrey and one of the finest sporting facilities in Europe. The squad will have strong links with the Superleague side. More information and trial dates are available here.
