Quins look ahead to new season and World Cup

22 August 2011

Quins’ CEO David Ellis is confident that his team are on track for a successful Aviva Premiership campaign, while one Harlequins star makes the 30 man England squad for the World Cup in New Zealand.

During their pre-season press conference held at Surrey Sports Park today Ellis, who started within the position of CEO only last week, was happy to report that season ticket and hospitality box sales have seen an increase in comparison to last season, and that everything behind the scenes at the Club is financially and operationally healthy.

Also in attendance were Director of Rugby Conor O’Shea and team captain Chris Robshaw who were both positive about the forthcoming season, recognising that there is evident world class strength amongst the squad, with Robshaw in particular stating how it was a pleasure to play alongside some of the League’s best players.

Pictures from the conference can be viewed on the Surrey Sports Park Facebook page.

There was more good news for Harlequins this evening as England coach Martin Johnson announced his 30 man squad to take to New Zealand for the World Cup in September, which included Number 8 Nick Easter. Easter was a part of the squad for the last tournament in 2007 and will therefore be delighted to make the grade once again. Fellow England hopefuls Danny Care (injury) and Ugo Monye failed to make the pick.
