Junior Number One trains with Singapore
12 August 2011

Top ranked English Junior Emily Bates came down to Surrey Sports Park on Friday after being invited to train with Team Singapore before heading home after a successful training camp.
15 year old Emily, who trains with Lincolnshire team Grantham Tornadoes, was earlier this year selected for the London 2012 Team GB long list for table tennis, after a succession of junior national and international tournament wins over the last few years.
Members of the Guildford Table Tennis League were also in attendance to admire the talent and appreciate the high standard of players on show, including that of Emily.
Team Singapore’s visit to Surrey Sports Park comes to a close this weekend, having spent three weeks here training for badminton and table tennis, plus shooting at the National Shooting Centre in Bisley. The camp has been a confidence boost for both Singapore and Surrey Sports Park ahead of the arrival of a range of Olympic nations next summer for London 2012.
Singapore’s run in the World Badminton Championships at Wembley Arena came to an end as players in all competitions failed to go further than the quarter-finals, proving the strength of the seeded opposition they faced.
