England power through to quarter-finals of Australian Open

Three of the four England Squash players have advanced to the last 8 of the tournament down-under.

Nick Matthew, James Willstrop and Peter Barker all finished their second round matches in 3 straight games, proving why they are all strong contenders for the title. Only Adrian Grant failed to make the grade, losing to France’s Gregory Gaultier who will face Willstrop in the quarter-finals.

World number one Matthew will need to tackle number 15 Laurens Jan Anjema of the Netherlands, while Barker has a tough challenge against Egypt’s world number two Ramy Ashour.

The team spent three days preparing for the tournament at Surrey Sports Park and have the World Team Championships in Germany to look forward to later in the month.
