GB Basketball’s Futures side come away with two wins out of three against the German Under-23 side in Nuremberg.

Following their preparation training camp at Surrey Sports Park the squad started their season on fine form defeating Germany twice in three days away from home. Friday evening saw a 67-50 victory featuring all 10 members of the squad, 9 of which making the score sheet with Kyle Johnson bagging 17 points.

Saturday’s test proved tougher with a 69-55 defeat after a 14-0 run from the Germans in the final quarter. Johnson again came out tops for GB with 16 point to add to his weekend tally. But a strong second half performance on Sunday afternoon gave GB the edge in a 72-66 win, with Johnson making it a hat-trick of leading scorer performances, taking his tally to 57 in three games.

Warick Cann, British Basketball’s head of performance, came away pleased with the result: “It was a very gutsy win away from home. We showed very good composure against great international pressure. To draw the official series and go 2-1 over three games against a major basketball nation is very pleasing."
