Storm win wheelchair rugby Super Series
13 July 2011

Surrey Sports Park played host to its first ever Wheelchair Rugby event last weekend, as the GBWR Coloplast Super Series came to Surrey.
The Super Series is the exciting new look competition programme for GBWR, with the two-pool tournament running across two days.
Saturday began with a great game between Crash and Crusaders that finished 43-39 to Crash, before Pirates took on Dragons, and Bulls went head to head with the Marauders.
Day two saw a great contest between Pirates and Crash for a place in the Super Series 3 Final. It was a closely contested battle, but in the end the
strength and speed of Aaron Phipps gave Pirates a spot in the final. The second semi-final between Crusaders and Storm was too close to call, but Storm began to stomp their authority on the game in the last quarter.
Pirates met Storm in the final and some of Great Britain's top talent were on display. Mandip Sehmi, Ross Morrison, Dave Anthony and Aaron Phipps went out to ensure it was an exciting game, and the spectators weren’t left disappointed. Both teams put on a real show, but it was in the second half of the game where Storm started to demonstrate their ability to close out the game, winning 60 – 49 and crowned champions.
A spokesman for Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby (GBWR) said, "The Coloplast Super Series was a fantastic event and GBWR would like to thank all clubs, supporters, officials and Surrey Sports Park for their support."
