Tamsin's England World Champs Blog: Day 2, 3 and Flight
29 June 2011

Tamsin continues her England World Champs Blog and updates us on what's been happening over the last few days with Team England before they flew out to Singapore.
Day 2, 3 and Flight
Sunday and Monday provided some great final training sessions for us as a squad in preparation for the competition. It's good heading in to worlds because you can pretty much work out who you are going to face come knockout time. So we spent Sunday morning going over some important tactical work to combat both the Kiwis and Aussies.
Due to the random day of British summer we ended up training in what can only be described as a sweat pit (attractive I know!) but we powered on through. We were spurred on by all the support again at the SSP and a special thank you has to go to Stormont School who came to watch and brought us a new mascot...Potter Winnifred Bear. So very cute and dressed in red (see the pic)!
The afternoon saw some more match action this time against my team - Surrey Storm. In true Storm style the girls bowled in with 15mins to go and hit the courts. It was great to get out and play against the girls and for them to get some exposure against the top players. There were a few sneaky elbows flying around and I managed to get a few bum taps in too - I couldn't resist.
The girls gave me and Rach some good luck cards and a good send off, and I'm already look forward to seeing them on my return.
Sunday night saw some of the England Netball board join us for dinner to wish us luck which was nice (it's all getting a bit real now). Then It was all about girl time with Beyonce, absolutely loving her Glastonbury performance and loving the moves the team were trying to bust out at training the next day. We had to re-enact some of the special moments for Serenabob who didn't watch it. It was pretty spectacular and pretty much spot on.
Monday morning saw Chris our S&C coach kill us with a netball endurance session (it was a pick your partner wisely session!) We brought our own entertainment with Serena in charge of warm-up. We went NBA style and let the magic happen in basketball. I'd be lying if I said there wasn't any MJ moments. We also played team killer at the end of the session, and it bodes well for us that Pam Cookey won. My lesson learnt was don't go in front of Jarten!
After a free afternoon spent in the sunshine we all met to head off to Heathrow. We had a few hours to kill and after the upset of not being able to get an iPad 2 my mood was lifted whilst bumping in to the Jamaica Squad. That gave me chance to catch up with long lost team mate Romelda Aiken, very exciting. Snacks, magazines and flight socks later I boarded and the 12hr flight flew by...
