With just hours to tip-off in Hatfield, Surrey Storm are ready to do battle with Hertfordshire Mavericks in a bid to be crowned FIAT Netball Superleague Champions in only their second season.
With a sell-out crowd expected in Hertfordshire, Storm fans from across Surrey are starting to make their final plans for tonight's game, whether it be travelling to the game, watching at Surrey Sports Park or on Sky Sports 3 at home with friends.
Pre-match commentary is building on twitter from netball fans across the country (Check it out and get involved @surreystorm) and Storm's in-form England shooter Rachel Dunn thinks Storm are ready and raring to go for tonight's big match.
She said, " We're well prepared as we always are. We’ve been looking at specific things and working hard so hopefully we can use these effectively against Mavericks.
"It’s a final so there is always pressure but we’ve had two pressure games in the play-offs, and come through them both. We feel we’ve got nothing to lose! We are just going to go out and enjoy the game. We’ve had an awesome season regardless of the result….but obviously we’ll be giving everything out there to get the win and lift the trophy."
Storm go into tonight's match after finishing fourth in the regular season, but have since gone on to knock out reigning champions Team Bath and Northern Thunder in two impressive away performances.
Storm's Gemma Cosentino thinks this momentum going into the final may prove key. She said,"We are peaking at the right time. However we know that previous results mean very little in a final and it’s anyone’s game. There is everything to play for!"
Today is also an extra special day for Gemma, as her little niece was born this morning, and is now officially Storm's youngest fan! Miss Poppy Louise Elmes was born this morning, and is already cheering on Storm to victory tonight - see this amazing picture. Congratulations to mum Maria, and let's hope she's a good luck charm for tonight!
As the Storm players make their final preparations, everyone would like to thank all the fans for their tremendous support leading up to tonight's final. Tonight is a huge moment in Storm's history, and the team will be going all out to bring the trophy back home to Surrey. Go Storm!
