Swimming Pool
Can my child swim without adult supervision?
Supervision is determined by a child’s age and not swimming ability, in the case of an emergency situation there is a requirement for an adult (over 18) to be responsible for a child, under the age of 8. This supervision must be within arms length and therefore requires the adult to be in the water, one adult may supervise 2 under 8’s. A child between the ages of 8 and 16 still requires adult supervision, however this supervision does not need to be within arms length, and therefore the supervising adult does not have to be in the water, but must be easily contactable within Surrey Sports Park
Am I allowed to dive in?
Diving is not permitted off of the diving blocks or in depths less than 1.8m. This is due to the danger of back injuries or collisions with poolside/bottom
Do I have to shower before getting in the pool?
Yes, all guests must shower before entering the pool, there are no exceptions. This is to encourage good hygiene and prevent skin and eye irritation
Am I allowed to use a snorkel?
Snorkels and monofins are not permitted; both of these items are specialist equipment and may only be used under qualified supervision in a non-public session
Am I allowed to use swimming aids?
You may bring your own teaching aids (e.g. arm bands) and floats may only be used in general swim or slow lanes only. Training aids (e.g. hand paddles and flippers) may be used in the fast or elite lanes. Guests must provide their own swimming aids
What is open swimming?
Open swimming is swimming for all ages and abilities with a minimum of 2 lanes available. Please note that there may be times where open swimming is in deep water only, check out our swim timetable for further information
The lanes seem very busy; shouldn’t you do something about that?
We have very strict lane limitations, which adhere to governing body regulations, and should we reach these our lifeguards will take appropriate action
Am I allowed to wear a t-shirt in the pool?
Clothing is not allowed to be worn in the pool, those requiring cover for religious reasons should wear purpose made costumes.
